The writings below are my opinions, you may let it influence you or you may not.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
The Three R's
Just when you think Juliette couldn't get any more aargh.
Book opens 2 weeks after the last one. Omega Juliette is not settling in at Omega Point and Castle tries to find out why. Then Adam comes and they have a hot make out session. Ya know, cos she promised to memorize every inch of his body with her t̶o̶n̶g̶u̶e̶ m̶o̶u̶t̶h̶ l̶i̶p̶s̶ I don't know in the previous book.
Then Jules--can I call you Jules? I'm gonna call you Jules--starts thinking about how hot Warren is. Not immediately but, more on that later.
Turns out Adam--
Poor, poor Adam--
Is super-powered. He "turns off" other people's power which is why he's able to touch her. But no longer because, alas, his defenses are no longer defending against her and she's killing him every time they get all handsy.
How convenient. But these two hormonally charged i̶d̶i̶o̶t̶s̶ lovebirds won't let death get in their way. Upon hearing the news they immediately play a game of how-low-can-you-go.
Pretty low because, long story short: He's hospitalized; she breaks it off. Now they are free to angst about how tortured their love is.
But that's not all, C̶a̶s̶t̶l̶e̶ K̶e̶n̶j̶i̶ someone decides the best way to integrate Jules is to let her on a mission outside.
Jules sees Warren and the first thought is how m̶u̶r̶d̶e̶r̶o̶u̶s̶ e̶v̶i̶l̶ h̶o̶t̶ perfect he is.
She observes him feeding a puppy and past sins forgiven because as long as the guy is hot and feeds a puppy who gives a flying dung about his dictator background or the fact that he's a k̶i̶l̶l̶e̶r̶/̶a̶s̶s̶a̶u̶l̶t̶e̶r̶/̶c̶r̶e̶e̶p̶y̶ asshole.
Jules then spends the next many chapters a̶n̶g̶s̶t̶-̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶A̶d̶a̶m̶ obsessing about how hot Warren is.
Warren with his emerald eyes and golden hair and a mixture of green and gold and something else.
Things happen and we find out: Supreme leader is Adam's dad; he's hot; he's also Warren's dad; who is also hot; Warren has a super-power; he's got both daddy and mommy issues; I'm sure she's hot too; how Castle and Kenji met; Shakespeare is mentioned so a quote by him can be f̶l̶a̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ tattooed from Warren's s̶c̶u̶l̶p̶t̶e̶d̶ pelvis.
Seems a lot but not really. C̶o̶n̶t̶i̶n̶u̶i̶t̶y̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ Info dump is this book's best-friend.
The leaps in logic these characters make. And when they actually need to make one, they don't.
See I told you Warren and Adam are related. You should be able to connect some dots and hypothesize that the reason Warren can touch Juliette might be because Adam can touch Juliette.
Genetics! Who needs 'em.
What else? Hmmm...
Jules is really, so, so very really hot. Like incredibly. Hot gorgeous look-at-her-and-your-loins-burst-into-flames hot.
Back to Warren. Dude is in l̶u̶s̶t̶ love with Jules. He makes sure she knows by reciting lines from her journal.
Adam, too, is in l̶u̶s̶t̶ love with her.
Supreme leader, too, is in lust with her but the fact that she busted his caps put an end to that.
B̶r̶e̶n̶d̶a̶n̶ I̶a̶n̶ someone who's name I can't remember is in lust with her also.
If Jules just took off her clothes, we would have world peace faster than you can snap.
Back to Warren, his power is that he absorbs ‘energy’ and redirects it.
What was my point?
I have no idea.
Then there is the world-building.
Lack of it.
Someone's trying to rewrite their world. Half of the explanations in this book do not jell with what's in Shatter Me. Seriously, Adam and Warren share a father? Excuse me while I scoff. Adam's power broke him up with Jules so she's free to get hot and bothered with Warren? Puhhlease.
Yes, book. You Unravel me. Most importantly, you unravelled your own plot and revealed the holes. Happy hunting.
Here's an idea: eat a bar of chocolate every time Jules mentions death, dying, suicide and how her h̶e̶a̶r̶t̶ lungs stop functioning. Or anyone tells her she's p̶e̶r̶f̶e̶c̶t̶ g̶o̶r̶g̶e̶o̶u̶s̶ the greatest leader evah the world will ever know because what I look for in a leader is looks and not whether his/her neurons are firing.
And yes, I'll read Ignite Me because I am curious a sucker who can't leave things unfinished.
