THE THREE R's
It starts out as a high school story but soon becomes more than that. The reader follows the protagonist on an astonishing story, spanning a decade, of self-discovery, love and truth As the book progresses, Lia is forced to look inside and find the source of her problems in an emotional journey that will change her perception of others and who she is.
In the short time I spent with this book, I fell in love with the characters. A salute to true friendship. Lia is strong but it's her friends who make the most difference in her life; they are the source of her strength. From soulmate Wilson to pensive Doug, and nice Maddie and confused Chad.
I want to slap him and hug him at the same time.
I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but I was crying on more than one occasion. If you pay attention, the clues to unlock Lia's past are sprinkled around the book. Enjoy tying everything together at the end.
There were some sentences that, when read aloud, felt stilted somehow; like have cotton wool in your mouth while doing a tongue twister. Apart from that. a lovely read.
